National case update at 0500 AEST

The total of confirmed H1N1 Influenza 09 cases in Australia as at 0500 AEST on 27 June remains at 3519 with four (4) H1N1 09 related deaths.

The national breakdown is: ACT 131, NSW 653, NT 125, Qld 527, SA 262, Tas 71, Vic 1560, WA 190.

Four deaths has been recorded – three in Victoria and one in SA. In all cases the deceased had a range of other diseases as well as testing positive to H1N1 Influenza 09.

Hospitalisations

There are currently 50 people in hospital around Australia with H1N1 Influenza 09 and 18 of these are in intensive care units.

There are 27 patients in hospital in Victoria, 11 of these are in ICU, 10 patients are hospitalised in the Northern Territory with two in ICU, five patients are hospitalised in NSW with two in ICU, three patients are in hospital in SA with one in ICU, two patients are in hospital in Qld with one in ICU, one patient is in hospital in WA who is in ICU, and two patients are in hospital in the ACT, neither of these are in ICU.

The total number of hospitalisations in Australia since H1N1 Influenza 09 was identified is 200.
