Further death in NT

16 July 2009

The NT Department of Health and Families has expressed condolences over the death of a middle-aged man in Alice Springs Hospital who had been suffering from a number of very serious and chronic medical conditions. The patient had been admitted to the hospital on 28 June 2009. After later testing positive for H1N1 influenza he was given a full course of antiviral medication (Tamiflu) that was completed on 4 July. Follow-up pathology testing indicated he had been cleared of the H1N1 virus. His underlying medical conditions deteriorated and he passed away on Sunday 12 July 2009.
